about

I still remember the first time I saw the Mines of Serra Pelada series by Sebastiao Salgado. That, I thought, is how photography can impact change. Iconic photographers like Salgado and Tyler Hicks have inspired me to seek out my own vision, to capture and relate the moments of life as it is lived, beautiful or mundane.

I was born in Pakistan, lived in Saudi Arabia, spent time in Sub-Saharan Africa...and most exotic of all, grew up in Warm and Cheerful Centerville, Ohio. Today, home is Durham, North Carolina, where I live with my wife and iPhone camera-wielding daughter.

My work--best described as documentary photography--leans towards a photojournalistic style, with an emphasis on light and shadow. Much of my work focuses on life in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central America, and South America.
